I’m so happy that you’d a good time in India and most importantly, felt comfortable. Waiting for you to make a trip to VA and tell us in detail about your adventures. Have a good time in Germany !!

Comment on Eating in India by Uri https://india.aonyx.org/eating-in-india/comment-page-1/#comment-55 Tue, 24 Feb 2004 09:07:08 +0000 http://india.aonyx.org/?p=37#comment-55 Can I eat food prepared in the places above without fear of health problems?
============================
Hmmm…India is a third world country, and food bourne illnesses are not uncommon. I have only been sick one night in my six months here. My general rule is to eat food that is prepared fresh, and is hot off the stove. Avoid food that has been sitting too long. This is one of the reasons I like dhabas, since they are busy and the food never sits long. Avoid drinking unfiltered water. I have never had a problem eating fresh fruit and raw vegetables, but the guide books do advise against it. Finally, all I can do is give you my experience.
It is also advisable to have your Hepatitis A & B immunizations.

I agree with you about tourist spots — as you know, I prefer settling into a place where I can be part of the community to moving about and “seeing the sights.” To me, living in the culture when I travel is a much richer experience than going to monuments and museums (not that I never go to museums and such).
